Title: Relatório final de estágio pós-doutoral Author: Valentini, Delmir José Abstract: Dom Sebastião and São Sebastião are described in this article with the aim of pointing out signs, traits and ideas, perceived in the metamorphoses of heterodoxies that approach the imagination of Brazilians who lived in the Contestado region at the beginning of the 20th century. Signs and a tangle of documents and records sought in the most diverse archives, books, drawings, images and, in addition to visual or written documents, also identities about the mystical and messianic aspects that pointed out marks and the presence of traces of a cultural origin, continued in a social universe of distinct traditions. It also highlighted aspects of the context in which the caboclo farmers of the Contestado region lived, in the decades following the change of the imperial political regime to a republic in Brazil and the abrupt cultural, social and economic changes and transformations, in an incipient process of internationalization, occupation, settlement and urbanization, resulting from the installation and operation of foreign capital in the Contestado region. The presence of monks, devotion to saints, especially Saint Sebastian, nostalgia for the imperial regime, manifested during the war movement in the Contestado region at the beginning of the 20th century, revealed traces of a singular Sebastianism, in this article highlighted from classic bibliographies on the Contestado movement and archives from Brazil and Portugal.
