Abstract: The theme of this Dissertation is the architecture for Early Childhood Education environments. It
seeks to reflect on which conceptions of the built environment of an Early Childhood school
contribute to children development. It aims at producing design propositions for Early Childhood
schools, centered on children desires and demands and on the context of the North Region of Rio
Grande do Sul, in order to promote environments that act as educating agents. It is a qualitative
research from a study case in a Municipal School of Early Childhood Education. Thus, based on the
Experiential Approach and the Embodied Observation during the walkthrough, interviews, drawings,
photographing, memory game and conversation circle, the fieldwork prioritized listening to the
children and the environmental experience of the observer together with the occupants. The
bibliographic review, which is aligned with Vygotsky, pointed out that children develop from the
relationships and interactions built in their socio-cultural environment. The research pointed out that,
although school is an adult-domain territory, children, through their interactions and games, explore
creatively the environments that mark their spatial experiences. The design propositions are directed to
the conception of environments which: promote interactions and games child/child, child/adult and
child/environment; support comfort, motor development and ability, so that they can establish
relations and educating experiences. It is expected to contribute for design conceptions of Early
Childhood schools which respond better to children rights of learning and development.

Abstract: Considering the current situation, where expectations of radical changes, whether due to environmental, economic, or political factors, are present in most analyzes and forecasts, the present Thesis seeks to situate within this context the proposal for the constitution of Educational Territories, based on a notion that can be translated as the archetype of transformation itself: magic. Such a choice is appropriate because, starting from an empirical basis developed in activities carried out with children, magic presented itself as a recurrent cognitive resource, as necessary, for the reinvention of itself in the face of changing scenarios. In this sense, it is proposed that cities and architecture have always been part of a kind of wünschelrute (magic stick), which connects the fields of the mind and the things of the world, expanding them. Thus, for the operation with the concept of Educational Territories, at the present time, a posture that is assumed as a bridge between magical and concrete thinking is taken as necessary. For the construction of this argument, two simultaneous archaeological operations are carried out, one of knowledge, and the other, urban, with the geographic section of both the city of Erechim (RS), which is singular for the purposes of such a speculative operation. In this city, located in the north of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, based on a colonial project based on the local version of Positivism, Castillism, evidence of the meeting between the Jewish kabbalah, Amerindian shamanism, and aphrodiaspore mythology can be suggested. The supports of this suggestion are different concrete aspects of morphology, topography, toponymy, and architectural landmarks, so that it becomes possible, from this reading, to reinvent the “metaphysical infrastructures” of the city. The investigation procedure of these indications takes place through a playful look, decentralized between discovery and creation, whose method derives from exploratory experiences, developed in games in an Extension Project, with elementary school students, in the same city. In this sense, the present Thesis is also about childhood, without necessarily being about children, but about the return to a magical experience of cities and ideas, as a playful and cognitive strategy for survival in the current urban context, which seems to be at the mercy of a disruptive move. Although the properly social aspects inherent to the theme are not secondary, the present Thesis traces an outline that is accompanied by fundamentals arising from philosophy, notably from currents linked to Philosophy of Mind and Ontology, as it understands that this must be the theme of the theme “ educational territories ”, today: no longer a problem exclusively of urban social policy, or of the epistemological orientation of education, but of the founding encounter of institutionalized spaces, between mind and world. In the Conclusion, the assessment of this conjunctural context is resumed, which made the work as a whole turn to the type of approach that operates. The conclusion obtained shows that the changes, especially those resulting from technological advances, are accompanied by equally sensitive changes in the flow of information, and also in all the social activities that depend on them, such as politics and education. As these are changes based on the creation of an immaterial communicational environment, cyberspace, the invention of its counterpoint, urban territories as educational means, emerges, either as resistance, adaptation, or reference for assessing changes in progress. It constitutes, therefore, the natural counterpoint to a crisis, which is not strictly educational but concerns the institutional representation of knowledge, and the metacognitive processes it engenders, the invention of forms and ways of thinking.

Abstract: The temporal space transformation and resignification of the territorial landscape is relevant in post-
modernity, with emphasis on the pluralization and contradictions assumed by socioenvironmental

identities in the transition from the 20th and 21st centuries. This study aims to study the transformation
of the territorial landscape from the identification of socio-environmental patterns, correlating them to
the construction of identities in Post Modernity. As a possibility of the Post-Modern epistemological
plurality itself, the transformation of the landscape is placed as a process, as an object and as the creator
of space-time, enabling the reinsertion of the subject as heir and transforming agent of the landscape.
The methodological approach adopted is based on the analysis of the values assumed by the transition of
the land use and land cover in Western Santa Catarina to the years 1985, 1991, 2000, 2010 and 2016. For
this, research methods were applied, facilitated by the adoption of computational tools Geographic
Information System (GIS) and geoprocessing. The results obtained made it possible to identify and analyze
that the patterns of landscape transformation in Post-Modernity occur in a plural and contradictory way,
because in addition to the situation of emergence, substitution of uses and advancement of human
activities over natural ones - modernity standard - there are other movements of fragmentation and
concentration, expansion and retraction, observed with the advance of natural structures over cultural
ones. The results also showed that the study of Western Santa Catarina was adequate to identify these
changes for small and medium-sized cities in a context of agro-industrial development.
Socioenvironmental identities are virtualized and re-territorialized, not only to the urban landscape, but
to the spread of the daily urban way of life as an ideal for economic and human development. From these
results, it was possible to develop two scenarios - one conservative and the other of sustainable
development - for the landscape of Western Santa Catarina for the year 2030. The first scenario is the
prospecting of ecological and cultural values in the face of transformation trends of the present landscape.
The second scenario, considering the intraterritorial vocations conceived by micro-regional landscape
planning units, constitutes an alternative for economic development for areas of difficult
technologization: production in agroforestry, the strengthening of family agriculture and the planned
urban expansions, which enable environmental qualification and sustainable development of human
capital in Western Santa Catarina.

Abstract: The landscape is understood as a set of elements constituted by the geobiophysical support and
anthropic activities resulting from human values and desires. This research proposed to identify
and analyze the landscape units of a geographic section located at the northern part of the Rio
Grande do Sul state (Corede Norte), Brazil. The units were analyzed by means of the
geobiophysical, social, and cultural processes and the interrelationships established between the
rural and urban spaces of small cities. The methods applied in the case study were the
bibliographic review, cartographic procedures, cluster analysis, commented paths, sound tours,
visual reading, and chromatic stimuli. The analyzes show that the region is diverse in terms of the
structural landscape and geobiophysical processes. Therefore, there is a need to form landscape
units, which differ from those instituted by the State. The anthropic effects on the landscape are
related to the socio-economic processes been developed in the territory, which act in different
spatial and temporal scales, thereby producing direct effects on the physical structure of the
landscape. From the cultural and environmental dimensions, it was possible to define a network
of cultural landscapes as a proposal for integrating structural and anthropic landscapes. The
research found that the landscape is reflected in the socioeconomic data. In small towns, the
population finds support in agricultural activities, thus explaining the larger number of residents
in the countryside. There are significant differences between the northern and southern parts of
the landscape in the study area. These differences were caused by geobiophysical conditions,
emphasizing the urban form and the distinct interactions between the cultural landscape units
and the rural and urban spaces.
