Abstract: Market value is increasingly applied to agroecological products. However, in animal
production, agroecology is still very restricted, constituting one of the areas with great
possibilities for development. Agroecological/organic-based aquaculture can be an
interesting activity for the diversification of production, contributing to food sovereignty
and security, as well as an alternative source of income on rural family properties. In
the case of fish farming, given that there is no fish feed based on organic products on
the national market, an alternative would be to allocate part of organic agricultural
production to the development of feed for continental fish farming. The objective of this
study was to survey and analyse organic vegetables for potential use in feeding fish
produced in the municipality of Laranjeiras do Sul – PR, envisioning organic fish
farming as a way of diversifying production on rural family properties in the region. To
this end, initially, a survey was carried out of certified agroecological producers who
had fish ponds and were interested in developing fish farming. Subsequently, organic
products and native fruits were identified with potential for use in feeding captive fish,
whether as ingredients in feed or directly in natura. Subsequently, organic products
and native fruits were identified with potential for use in feeding farmed fish, whether
as ingredients in feed or directly in natura. The foods were analysed in the laboratory
to determine their nutritional composition. Six certified organic producers were
identified who have fish ponds and are interested in developing fish farming, as well
as nine agroecological/organic products and their residues, with potential for use in
fish feeding. Through analyses of the proximate composition (moisture, protein, lipids,
ash and fiber) of food and waste, it was possible to conclude that the use of tuberous
cassava root, sweet potato, cassava leaf, sweet potato leaf and cauliflower as
alternative ingredients in diets formulated for fish could be interesting. However,
complementary studies evaluating, among other parameters, consumption,
digestibility, and performance in relation to the inclusion of these ingredients in diets
formulated for different fish species must be carried out. Additionally, it can be inferred
that the fresh supply of lettuce, cabbage, and cauliflower leaves to herbivorous fish
species, such as grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella), is a good alternative for the
destination of surplus or, eventually, not commercialized production.

Abstract: The oysters represent a high nutritional value kind of food, they are considered rich sources of
proteins and minerals. However, its nutritional composition can change, among other factors,
according to the place of extraction, wether is food available or not, the season of the year and
the degree of gonadal maturation. The main goal of the present study was to evaluate the
chemical composition and glycogen contents of two species of oysters, the exotic Crassostrea
gigas and the native C. gasar. This present final paper accomplished itself in the laboratories of
the Aquaculture Engineering course at the Federal University of Fronteira Sul (UFFS), at
Laranjeiras do Sul-PR campus. The samples of two oyster species were collected from a
conducted cultivation at Paraíso das Ostras marine farm, located in Caeira da Barra do Sul,
Florianópolis / SC, at four different periods of the year, in April, July and October of 2019 and
in January of 2020. The two oyster species were grown in lanterns that were located in natural
environment, distributed in a completely randomized design with 3 repetitions/species. In the
sample collections, the animals were removed from the culture lanterns, sanitized and removed
from their shells for the following analysis of the proximal composition (moisture, protein, lipid
and ash) and soft tissue glycogen. The obtained results were analyzed statistically via bifactorial
ANOVA and Tukey test of averages separation (p<0.05). It was found that the time of year
influences the nutritional composition of oysters C. gigas and C. gasar. For both species, in
general, the highest concentrations of protein, lipid and glycogen were observed in October.

Abstract: Due to the expansion of aquaculture activities, issues related to the
environmental sustainability of production systems arise through the direct use
of water resources, which can affect the quality and quantity of water available
in these systems. Given this, it is necessary to search for viable mechanisms
that make it possible to minimize such impacts using the available natural
resources in a sustainable way. As an alternative to the treatment of these
effluents it is possible to use aquatic macrophytes which is normally associated
with the use of floating or rooted plants. The aim of this work was to evaluate
the efficiency of assimilation of nutrients by floating macrophytes (Azolla sp.
And Salvinia molesta) in intensive culture simulation of Oreochromis niloticus
(Nile tilapia) in order to verify the effluent treatment which is the best option to
be used in biological treatment of fish culture water. A water recirculation
system containing a box with a capacity of 250 L was used where the juveniles
of Oreochromis noloticus that produced the effluent were allocated, and 9 boxes
with 50 L capacity where the macrophytes were placed in a totally random
manner. Three treatments (Azolla sp. And Salvinia molesta, Azolla sp. And
Salvinia molesta) were used with three replicates each. The variables (water
temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, conductivity, ammonia and nitrite), the
water in the culture tank and the boxes containing the macrophytes were
measured. The use of aquatic macrophytes for the treatment of fish farming
effluents can be considered according to the system to be installed. The results
show the need to increase the surface area of the filters containing the aquatic
macrophytes, as well as to promote their development completely. Furthermore,
it is necessary a longer period of time for the experiment so that in this way, one
can evaluate the ability of the macrophytes phytoremediator as in the treatment
of these effluents.

Abstract: The aquaculture has great growth worldwide and in Brazil the state of Paraná stands out with
the production of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). From sustainable aquaculture produc tion with agroecological guidelines, fish farming emerges as a viable economic alternative for
family farmers. In this sense, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the inclu sion of beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) residue from the processing industry, previously extrud ed and in natura, as an alternative ingredient in organic diet, on the survival, growth and body
composition of Nile tilapia juveniles. Five isoprotein and isoenergetic diets were prepared to
contain 0, 10 and 20% extruded and in natura beans (control, 10FE, 10FN, 20FE and 20FN,
respectively) in a completely randomized design, in triplicate. The diets were prepared with
certified organic ingredients and offered for 30 days to tilapia juveniles (0.24±0.05 g) stored
(20 fish/experimental unit) in 15 polyethylene tanks (60 L of useful volume), connected to a
heated (26 ºC) and salinized (3‰) water recirculation system with individual aeration. At the
end of the feeding period, survival and performance variables (weight gain, daily feed intake,
feed conversion and specific growth rate) of tilapia juveniles were evaluated. Fish samples
were randomly collected at the beginning and end of the experimental period to determine the
body composition of the whole fish. Zootechnical performance and survival of Nile tilapia
juveniles were significantly influenced by dietary treatments. The inclusion of fresh beans in
diets resulted in worsening of all variables analyzed (P<0,05), on the other hand, the results
obtained with diets containing extruded beans did not differ from the control (P>0.05). Mois ture, crude protein and hepatosomatic index were not influenced by dietary treatments
(P>0.05). However, nile tilapia juveniles fed diets containing fresh beans showed the lowest
lipid and highest ash contents (P<0.05). It is concluded that the inclusion of 10% or more of
fresh bean meal in the diet is harmful for Nile tilapia juveniles in the initial phase of develop ment, but the extrusion process improves its utilization by fish, allowing inclusion in the diet
of up to 20% without impairment in the performance and survival of juveniles of O. niloticus.
