Abstract/Resumen: This work aims to identify the importance of using medicinal plants in the
Indigenous Land of Iraí, for the purpose of strengthening autonomy and Kaingang
culture. The methodological approach developed is qualitative and exploratory in
nature. For data collection/construction, families from the indigenous community of
Iraí, RS, were used as sources of information. The instruments that were used for
this collection/construction were a semi-structured questionnaire. The results will
show how important the use of medicinal plants is for us indigenous people, as
during the interviews I could see that most use the plant in some way in their daily
lives in the form of medicine and teas. This work was justified by the need to spread
more the use of medicinal plants as a way of strengthening autonomy and Kaingang
culture in the Indigenous Land of Iraí-RS

Abstract/Resumen: Medicinal plants have been used by indigenous populations for several years to
prevent and cure diseases, mainly in the Mbyá Guarani culture. The research
aimed to investigate the knowledge about medicinal plants in other Guarani villages
through the analysis of course conclusion works from two public universities. We
sought to identify course conclusion works on the Guarani culture and medicinal
plants, analyze the selected works by raising what has been researched on the
subject and from which approach, as well as relating the theme of medicinal plants
in the Guarani culture with science teaching in village schools. The research has a
qualitative approach and it is a bibliographic work. Course completion papers on
the subject were selected from the UFSC and UFRGS repositories. As a result, a
small number of academic works that dialogue with the topic in Guarani reality
stood out. Both works analyzed defend the valorization of ancestral knowledge in
Guarani indigenous schools, based on the involvement of the community,
especially the pajés and the “vós” in school actions. We reinforce the necessary
dialogue between this ancestral knowledge and the Science content addressed at
school, respecting the way of relating to plants typical of the Guarani culture, that
is, physically, mentally and spiritually.

Abstract/Resumen: This work was elaborated through a qualitative research, which sought to
evaluate if the political-pedagogical proposal of the Escola do Campo Santa
Inês bases its pedagogical work from the original principles of Education in the
Field. It seeks to understand whether in its Political-Pedagogical Project (PPP)
there are similarities with Indigenous School Education, since the school serves
these subjects from the countryside who have a way of life and a culture with
unique characteristics. Today, after having spent four years in the Licenciatura
em Educação do Campo, at UFFS campus Erechim /RS, I understand better the
principles and the movement of struggle of Rural Education, and I can see how
much this thinking about rural education is looking at the protagonists of the
field who fought for a differentiated policy for them. Thus, we sought to study
the elements that characterize Rural Education and Indigenous Education,
characterize the School of Campo Santa Inês, understand what are the concepts
and practices that underlie the actions of the studied school, and if they are
related to the principles originating in Rural Education, and, finally, indicating
ways to build a differentiated education based on the principles of Rural
Education. The rural school, committed to its subjects and to the transformation
of oppressive realities, should help in the humanization process of people and
in the training of new generations of workers and social activists. Rural
education brings a different look, with another view on education, it is
concerned with the subject of the field, ceasing to be that existing education in
society, which is concerned only with forming subjects fit for the labor market,
without looking at the where they live, they are children and young people from
the countryside who end up leaving the countryside because they do not learn
to value their own history and culture. When analyzing the PPP of the Colégio
Estadual do Campo Santa Inês we realized that despite writing about the
valorization of the subject of the field, the actions aimed at indigenous subjects
are still limited to promoting actions on commemorative dates such as the day
of the Indian.
