<title>Geografias de mundos imaginários: as potencialidades do universo de Runeterra na educação geográfica</title>

Abstract: This study investigates the potential of the fictional universe of Runeterra, featured in the game League of Legends and the animated series Arcane, as a didactic tool for Geography teaching. Based on the premise that digital culture and media products influence the construction of contemporary spatial imaginaries, this research analyzes how symbolic, narrative, and territorial elements from this universe can be used to build geographic knowledge in schools. Grounded in critical Geography and educational theory, the study connects key concepts such as space, territory, place, landscape, and region to the geographic representations present in Runeterra’s narratives. The methodology consisted of qualitative analysis of official Riot Games sources, especially the Arcane series and the Universe website, along with the author's prior knowledge of the fictional world. The findings suggest that fiction can significantly contribute to Geography teaching by promoting critical thinking, spatial literacy, and the integration of school knowledge with students' cultural repertoires. By recognizing fictional worlds as formative instances of possible geographies, this research proposes a more engaging, creative, and culturally relevant approach to geographic education.

<title>Shopping centers e a reconfiguração do espaço urbano em Chapecó: dinâmicas, impactos e desafio</title>

Abstract: The development of urban centers in Brazil has been characterized by profound spatial and social changes, particularly in medium-sized cities in the interior. In Chapecó, recent transformations in the urban landscape have been driven by the construction of shopping malls and large commercial projects. This study specifically addresses the analysis of the dynamics, effects, and challenges that these establishments bring to the municipality’s urban structure. The research was conducted using both qualitative and quantitative methods, including literature review, analysis of official documents, collection of secondary data, and fieldwork. The main impact areas of the shopping centers were analyzed, focusing on the neighborhoods where Patio Shopping and Pulse Open Mall are located, in order to understand changes in land use, real estate valuation, commercial dynamics, and urban mobility. The analysis was complemented by interviews with government representatives, business owners, and residents, which made it possible to identify local perceptions and experiences. The results show that the construction of shopping centers in Chapecó has helped create new centralities, altering urban flows and leading to the appreciation of land and real estate in surrounding areas. While challenges have arisen for traditional commerce and the management of mobility and traffic, there has also been a strengthening of the service sector and the creation of new jobs. Furthermore, the growth of these developments is linked both to processes of socio-spatial segregation and to increased pressure on urban regions that were previously residential or underutilized. It can be concluded that shopping centers play a fundamental role in the reconfiguration of Chapecó urban space, bringing economic benefits but also requiring integrated public policies to ensure sustainable urban development, social inclusion, and environmental preservation. The research emphasizes the importance of planning strategies that take into account the various effects of these enterprises and foster a more balanced and resilient city.

Abstract: This Undergraduate Thesis investigates the Brazilian regional representativeness in the images of the textbook Amplitude Geografia 7, adopted in the 7th grade of Elementary School in a public school in the municipality of Nova Erechim (SC). The main objective is to discuss how Brazil's regions are visually represented in this material, considering the frequency, content, and meanings attributed to the images. The research is qualitative in nature, based on a bibliographic and documentary study of the textbook, adopting hermeneutics as a methodological foundation to interpret the meanings present in the images within their pedagogical context, and the evidentiary paradigm, which guides the critical reading of visual and symbolic clues. The analyzed images were classified into three general categories: Natural Landscape, Cultural Landscape, and Cultural-Economic Landscape. These categories were then organized into thematic subcategories such as vegetation, historical heritage, folk festivals, economic activities, among others. The analysis revealed patterns of luminosity and opacity, according to the concepts of Milton Santos, highlighting the emphasis on traditional and cultural representations to the detriment of more complex urban, social, and economic aspects. It is concluded that the images in the textbook are not neutral, but bear ideological meanings that influence students' geographical perspective, reinforcing the need for a critical and plural visual approach in Geography education.
