<title>A memória do trauma, a partir do testemunho no livro “A guerra não tem rosto de mulher”</title>

Abstract/Resumen: This undergraduate thesis aims to analyze the relationship between memory, trauma, and gender in the book War Does Not Have a Woman's Face, by Belarusian writer Svetlana Alexievich. The research starts from the realization that the traditional historiography of World War II, focused on military strategies and heroism, constructed a predominantly male narrative that silenced the experience of Soviet female combatants. Using Freudian psychoanalysis on trauma as a theoretical framework, as well as gender and memory studies by authors such as Johnny Roberto Rosa, Linda Nicholson, and A. M. Steinbach, the study investigates how trauma is inscribed in female testimony. The analysis demonstrates that the “female war”, as recorded by Alexievich through Oral History, differs radically from the official narrative, being marked by a “history of feelings” and the sensory record of pain. It discusses the process of social silencing imposed on veterans in the post-war period, the traumatic defeminization of bodies at the front, and the psychic difficulty of narrating horror. It is concluded that Alexievich's work acts as a space for working through trauma, allowing repressed and stigmatized memories to be transformed into historical testimony, breaking with decades of oblivion and revealing the human and painful face of the conflict.

Abstract/Resumen: The following work aims to present an analysis of how the United States and Liberia, specifically, were used as a field of experience and horizon of expectation, discussed by the parliamentary elite within the annals of the senators, in the period from 1826 to 1888. This construction was based on the concepts of space of experience and horizon of expectation, mobilized by Reinhart Koselleck. The research seeks to understand how the Brazilian parliamentary elite used foreign experiences (from North America) to interpret the present and project possibilities for the fate of the institution of slavery in the country. The investigation is based on the analysis of the annals of the Senate of the Empire of Brazil, articulated with historiographies of authors such as Tâmis Parron, Rafael de Bivar Marquese, Beatriz Mamigonian and Dale W Tomich. The results indicate that the United States served as a central position in the discourses of the parliamentary elites, being initially presented as an ideal of nation, economic progress, civilization and social organization. However, after the advent of the Eusébio de Queirós Law and the American Civil War, the North American experience began to be interpreted differently, also being seen as a warning about the conflicts and tensions that could arise with the advancement of abolition in Brazil. Thus, Liberia emerges in the debates as an alternative related to a possible possibility for projects of return to Africa. In other words, while the United States acted as a space for experimentation, Liberia was constructed from a horizon of future expectations for the post-slavery period. It is concluded, therefore, that both references played a relevant role in the formulation of the horizons of expectations of the parliamentary elite in Brazil, strongly influencing the debates on slavery, nation-building, and emancipation throughout the 19th century, impacted by various events that contributed to this construction.

Abstract/Resumen: This study analyzes the representations of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo in the Brazilian press, drawing on newspapers available in the National Library’s Digital Newspaper Archive. The timeframe spans the years 1978 to 1988, a period corresponding to the final years of the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship and the country's redemocratization process. The research aims to identify and understand the representations of the Argentine movement constructed by Brazilian periodicals, analyzing their continuities and transformations over the period. To this end, documentary and bibliographic research was conducted, involving a qualitative and quantitative analysis of selected news reports. The results demonstrate that representations of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo mirrored the transformations in the Brazilian political context, shifting from approaches shaped by the authoritarian era to discourses emphasizing human rights, memory, and democracy during the redemocratization process. The study concludes that the Brazilian press played a significant role in constructing these representations, reflecting the political and social changes experienced by the country.
