Abstract/Resumen: Despite the growing recognition of female homosexuality, significant gaps persist in the healthcare provided to lesbian women within the Unified Health System in Brazil, revealing fragilities in the reception and provision of comprehensive care for this population. Studies indicate that this invisibility stems from institutional and professional unpreparedness, culminating in deficient care, discrimination, and neglect of specific needs. This study aimed to analyze the experiences of lesbian university women regarding their care within Brazil's Unified Health System, seeking to understand the fragilities and potentialities of this care, propose recommendations for its improvement, and construct strategies to address the challenges. This is a descriptive, exploratory study with a qualitative approach, grounded in Serge Moscovici's Social Representation Theory. Participants included nine cisgender lesbian women, aged between 21 and 34, affiliated with public higher education institutions in Santa Catarina and users of Brazil's Unified Health System. Data collection occurred through semi-structured interviews, application of the Free Word Association Test, and a sociodemographic questionnaire. The data was subjected to Bardin's Content Analysis, specifically Thematic Categorical Analysis. The results revealed an ambivalence between gratitude for the existence of Brazil's Unified Health System and frustration with the deficiencies encountered. In the Free Word Association Test, "prejudice" was the most evoked word, followed by "access" and "unpreparedness," indicating that invisibility is interpreted as a consequence of structural discriminatory attitudes. Four thematic categories emerged: (1) Demands of lesbian women in Brazil's Unified Health System, highlighting heteronormative presumption, intersectional discrimination, and barriers to access; (2) Fragilities in care, emphasizing misinformation about safe sexual practices, professional unpreparedness, symbolic violence, inappropriate curiosity, and the absence of specific guidelines; (3) Potentialities, identifying generational renewal of professionals and increased academic visibility as signs of transformation; (4) Building a more inclusive Brazil's Unified Health System, with participant suggestions including continuous professional training, non-presumptive humanized care, creation of specific protocols, awareness campaigns, mental health attention, and inclusion of women with diverse gender expressions. Intersectional analysis revealed that Black lesbian women face additional barriers due to the overlay of racism and LGBTphobia. It was found that withdrawal from services due to fear of discrimination increases avoidable vulnerabilities. The research shows that the identified fragilities do not stem from the constitutional principles of Brazil's Unified Health System, but from their insufficient implementation. The construction of a more inclusive Brazil's Unified Health System for lesbian women constitutes an ethical and political imperative, essential for realizing the principles of universality, integrality, equity, and social participation that underpin the Brazilian public health system.

Abstract/Resumen: Introduction: Nursing care directed at children is influenced by diverse cultural practices that shape how families and communities understand health, illness, protection, and child development. Objective: This study sought to identify, in the scientific literature, how cultural practices influence nursing care for children. Methodology: A narrative literature review was conducted based on the guiding question of how cultural practices influence nursing care in child health. The search took place between October and November 2025 in the LILACS, BDENF, CINAHL, MEDLINE, and Scopus databases using descriptors related to child health, culture, care, and nursing. Inclusion criteria comprised empirical field studies addressing cultural practices involving children aged 0 to 9 years, published in Portuguese, English, or Spanish and available in open access. Studies were excluded if they were theses, dissertations, monographs, ministerial documents, review articles, publications without free access, studies unrelated to the objective, or those not based on field research. Fourteen studies met all eligibility criteria. Results: The analysis revealed two thematic axes. The first involved sociocultural practices present in family life, such as blessing rituals, use of herbs, protective rites, spiritual beliefs, and culturally shaped dietary habits, showing that families mobilize traditional knowledge to interpret and care for child health. Integrating these practices into professional care strengthens cultural sensitivity, improves therapeutic bonds, and enhances nursing care quality. The second axis referred to care provided in hospital settings, where tensions emerged between biomedical rationale and traditional family knowledge, along with experiences in which professionals demonstrated openness and respect toward cultural particularities. Such attitudes favored more humanized interactions, reduced conflicts, and improved communication and safety for the child and family. Conclusion: Valuing cultural diversity expands the possibilities for culturally congruent nursing practice and contributes to more comprehensive and responsive child health care.

Abstract/Resumen: Fetal death constitutes an event of great emotional impact for women and their families, requiring nursing professionals and students to provide sensitive, humanized, and technically qualified care. However, coping with this situation during professional training still represents a challenge. This study aimed to analyze the perceptions of nursing students regarding their feelings toward caring for women experiencing fetal loss after an educational intervention. This was a qualitative study with a descriptive and exploratory design, conducted with nursing students from a federal higher education institution. Data were collected in 2019 through face- to-face individual interviews guided by a semi-structured script and conducted after an educational intervention consisting of a lecture, linked to the macroproject “Care for women experiencing fetal loss: caring-educational technologies in nursing education.” All interviews were audio-recorded and later transcribed. Data were subjected to thematic content analysis, and all phases of the research were guided by ethical principles. Fourteen students participated in the study, twelve of whom were female, and all had completed their nursing degree at the time of the study. The results revealed two central categories: the human and emotional dimension of care in the context of fetal death, and the educational dimension and preparation for future professional practice. The findings showed that experiencing and reflecting on care for bereaved women mobilizes profound feelings such as empathy, insecurity, sadness, and fear, while also highlighting the importance of developing communication and emotional competencies to provide sensitive and humanized care. The study also found that students feel insufficiently prepared to deal with situations of gestational loss, reinforcing the need to strengthen curricular content and teaching methodologies addressing perinatal grief. It is concluded that the educational intervention contributed to broadening students’ understanding of the topic, underscoring the relevance of educational strategies that integrate theory, practice, and the emotional aspects of care, thereby promoting more qualified training aligned with the demands of healthcare practice.

Abstract/Resumen: Digital devices and emerging technologies have been used for screening and early diagnosis of atrial fibrillation, a frequently asymptomatic arrhythmia associated with an increased risk of stroke. The objective was to assess whether these digital devices and emerging technologies enhance atrial fibrillation detection and contribute to stroke prevention compared with the 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) gold-standard method. This systematic review followed PRISMA guidelines and included searches in the BVS, Cochrane Library, LILACS, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. Risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane RoB 2.0 tool. Seven randomized clinical trials were included, totaling 56,287 participants. The evaluated devices were long-term adhesive monitors, implantable loop recorders, single-lead portable electrocardiograms, continuous digital Holter monitors, and smartphone applications. Atrial fibrillation detection was higher in the intervention groups (5.3% to 31.8%) compared with controls (0.5% to 12.8%), resulting in an increase in anticoagulation of 2.0 to 3.7 per 100 person-years. Regarding cerebrovascular outcomes, the STROKESTOP study demonstrated a 4% reduction, and the LOOP study observed a clinically relevant 20% reduction. It is concluded that digital devices increase atrial fibrillation detection and anticoagulation; however, evidence for stroke reduction remains limited. The use of these technologies should consider cost-effectiveness, adherence, target population, and integration into health systems.
