Caracterização de frutos e sementes de Bromelia antiacantha Bertol na região de Santo Cristo

Abstract

Brazilian biodiversity is recognized as one of the most significant in the terrestrial biosphere and plays an important role in the well-being and health of man by providing basic products and ecosystem services. Bromelia antiacantha, a species of native fruit, is known as caraguatá, carauatá, gravatá, gravatá-da-praia, gravatá-do-mato, gravatá-de-foz, banana-do-mato and croatá, in which it presents wide distribution in the northwest of the state. The research aims to perform the physical-chemical characterization of the fruits of Bromelia antiacantha and to compare with the data of the existing literature. To evaluate fruit parameters for the physical aspects: fruit size, average weight and color, to characterize fruit pulp as to the chemical composition: soluble solids, pH; Total titratable acidity and characterize the seeds as to the number of seeds and the weight. The materials were collected in the municipality of Santo Cristo, taken to the laboratory of the university and then made the desired analyzes. It was verified that the number of fruits of Bromelia antiacantha Bertol, found in the region of study by bunch was lower than the other studies found in the bibliography, whereas the chemical characteristics of the fruits present similar average values with the standards already determined in the other studies carried out with species of the same family.
