dc.description.abstract | Fungicides, often used in conventional farming systems, can damage humans, animals and the environment. Chitosan, which is a substance extracted from the crustacean shell, has shown to be a harmless and cheap alternative. This study aimed to test the inhibitory effect of chitosan on the mycelial growth of Fusarium sp., Rhizoctonia sp. and Trichoderma sp. Different concentrations of chitosan (1.0%; 2.0%; 4.0%; 8.0% and 16.0%) were supplemented to 1% acetic acid Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA). The fungi were inoculated in the center of the plates, incubated at 25°C, with and without a 12-hour photoperiod. The measurements were performed daily, in two transverse diameters, until the mycelium of the fungi reached the edges of the Petri dish. The mycelial growth of Fusarium sp. was significantly inhibited by chitosan at concentrations 1.0%; 2.0%; 4.0% and 8.0%; on the 4th, 5th and 6th evaluation days, in a 12-hour photoperiod. However, for Rhizoctonia sp. there was no reduction of mycelial growth. Trichoderma sp. presented the greatest mycelial reduction, in both light conditions, in all the concentrations evaluated, on days one, two and three. It can be concluded that the mycelial growth of Fusarium sp. and Trichoderma sp. were inhibited by chitosan. Also, that the association of chitosan with Trichoderma sp. is not indicated as biocontrol agents of phytopathogens. | pt_BR |
dc.description.resumo | O uso de fungicidas é empregado no sistema convencional de cultivo, podendo causar danos a saúde humana, animal e para o ambiente. Uma das alternativas é a utilização de quitosana, substância extraída da carapaça dos crustáceos, inócua e barata. Esse estudo objetivou avaliar o efeito da quitosana sobre o crescimento micelial dos fungos Fusarium sp., Rhizoctonia sp. e Trichoderma sp. A quitosana foi adicionada em Ágar Batata Dextrose (BDA), em 1% de ácido acético, nas concentrações 0,0; 1,0; 2,0; 4,0; 8,0 e 16,0%. Os fungos foram cultivados no centro das placas, incubados a 25°C, com e sem fotoperíodo de 12 horas. As medições foram realizadas diariamente, em dois diâmetros transversais, até que o micélio dos fungos atingissem os bordos da placa de Petri. O crescimento micelial de Fusarium sp. foi significativamente inibido pela quitosana nas concentrações 1,0%; 2,0%; 4,0% e 8,0%; no 4º, 5º e 6º dias de avaliação, em fotoperíodo de 12 horas, em relação a testemunha. No entanto, para Rhizoctonia sp. não houve qualquer redução do crescimento micelial. O crescimento micelial de Trichoderma sp., tanto na ausência, quanto na presença do fotoperíodo de 12 horas, foi o que apresentou maior índice de redução, em todos as concentrações avaliadas, nos dias um, dois e três, em relação a testemunha. Concluiu-se que a quitosana possui efeito inibidor do crescimento micelial de Fusarium sp. e Trichoderma sp. Também pode-se concluir que o uso de quitosana e Trichoderma sp., como agentes de biocontrole de fitopatógenos, não é indicado. | pt_BR |
