Crise hídrica e contexto socioambiental do "Projeto de abastecimento público dos municípios de Xanxerê, Xaxim, Cordilheira Alta e Chapecó"

Abstract

Historically, the interrelations between humans and the environment that surround them have been modified. If, in a primitive past, these interrelations were given by the search of resources needed to sustain life, nowadays the depredation and pressure exerted upon nature have drained natural resources. Waterresources, for example, appear on the centre of this matter, once the needs and demand that are currently imposed upon them have contributed negatively to water’s quality and quantity. Nevertheless, this debate should not be carried out solely under the prism of the environmental matter because it is an aspect imposed by society, which means it is a socio-environmental issue. In this sense, the present paper analyses the reflexes of water scarcity in ChapecóXanxerê, Xaxim and Cordilheira Alta and the social-environmental context of "Public Supply Projec" - which is a project that aims to provide responses to demands on the next 25 years.
