dc.description.abstractThis paper aims to analyze the process of female representation in the legislative power of the municipality of Cerro Largo considering the municipal elections. For this, we searched the literature about the forms of participation and female political representation in Brazil and in the world (COUTO, 2012; BONI, 2015; VAZ, 2008; QUINTELA; DIAS 2016). This research, with a qualitative approach, searched the sites of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), the Rio Grande do Sul Regional Electoral Court (TRE-RS) and the Cerro Largo City Council for data to analyze how the female representation occurs. in that municipality and to seek more characteristics of the elected women. From the analysis, it can be seen that from the late 1990s, after the enactment of the Quota Law, to the present day there were a fairly constant number of women elected to the legislature. Regarding the number of candidates, the last two elections, 2012 and 2016, saw a large increase in the number of candidates. When the characteristics of the elected candidates were analyzed, some information recurred, such as the average age of 42.1 years, the teaching profession, complete higher education, married marital status and the largest affiliation to the Progressive Party. With this information, it was possible to build a social profile of the elected councilors in Cerro Largo. It is hoped that with these results it will be possible to create policies to encourage female participation in the municipal legislature, creating possibilities for effective representation of women in local politics.pt_BR
dc.description.resumoO presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar o processo de representação feminina no poder legislativo do município de Cerro Largo considerando as eleições municipais. Para isso, buscou-se na literatura a respeito das formas de participação e representação política feminina no Brasil e no mundo (COUTO, 2012; BONI, 2015; VAZ, 2008; QUINTELA; DIAS 2016). Esta pesquisa, de abordagem qualitativa, buscou nos sítios do Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE), Tribunal Regional Eleitoral do Rio Grande do Sul (TRE-RS) e da Câmara de Vereadores do Município de Cerro Largo dados para analisar como se dá a representação feminina no referido município e para buscar mais características das mulheres eleitas. Por meio da análise, pode-se verificar que do final da década de 90, após a aprovação da Lei de Cotas, até os dias atuais houve um número razoavelmente constante de mulheres eleitas para o legislativo. Em relação ao número de candidaturas, observou-se nas duas últimas eleições, 2012 e 2016, um grande aumento do número de candidatas. Ao serem analisadas as características das candidatas eleitas, verificou-se a recorrência de algumas informações, como a idade média de 42,1 anos, a profissão de professora, o Ensino Superior completo, o estado civil casada e a maior filiação ao Partido Progressista. Com essas informações, foi possível montar um perfil social das vereadoras eleitas em Cerro Largo. Espera-se que com esses resultados seja possível criar políticas de incentivo à participação feminina no legislativo municipal, criando possibilidades para efetivar a representação da mulher na política local.pt_BR
