Prevalência de diagnósticos psiquiátricos em familiares de pacientes pediátricos com dermatite atópica

Abstract

Objective: To identify the prevalence, types of disorders and group most affected by psychiatric diagnoses in family members of pediatric patients with Atopic Dermatitis. Methodology: Cross-sectional study carried out at the Ambulatory of Allergy and Immunology of Hospital de Clínicas, Passo Fundo/RS, from March 2016 to May 2018. Results: The sample consisted of 121 relatives or direct caregivers, of whom 42 (34.7%) reported a psychiatric diagnosis. In addition, 74 relatives with psychiatric illness were cited, totaling 116 relatives. The relatives most affected by some type of psychiatric disorder were mothers (34.5%), depression being the most frequent type (55.2%). Conclusion: The prevalence of psychiatric disorders in responsible relatives of pediatric patients with Atopic Dermatitis was high compared to the general population. It’s essential to give importance to this population, especially through new studies that analyze the relationship between stressors in family members and patients, so that there is prevention in the future and a therapeutic approach capable of helping both the clinical improvement of Atopic Dermatitis, and in relation to psychiatric disorders in the family.
