Prevalência de hipertensão arterial sistêmica em pacientes com idade entre 18 e 41 anos atendidos no hospital da Cidade de Passo Fundo (RS)

Abstract

Objective: To verify the prevalence of Systemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH) in patients aged between 18 and 41 years of age at the Hospital de Clínicas de Passo Fundo (RS). Methodology: A population based cross-sectional study of a significant random sample of the population under study. The sample consisted of 1657 patients with a diagnosis of hypertension and of these 143 with age between 18 and 41 years. Electronic records were analyzed in the PAGU system (hospital information system). Results: Of the 143 patients, 21% had Systemic Arterial Hypertension for more than 1 year, 69% used some type of medication. Of the population under study, 10% are diabetic, 5% are carriers of dyslipidemia, 15% are smokers, 26% are using alcohol, 4% are physically active. Regarding BMI, 2% are overweight, 17% are obese. Conclusion: The prevalence of hypertension in patients aged between 18 and 41 years of age at the Hospital de Clínicas of Passo Fundo (RS) was 8.63%. Thus, a decrease in prevalence was observed when compared to similar studies.
