Saúde mental das pessoas com deficiência no contexto da pandemia de covid-19

Abstract

Since the emergence of the Coronavirus, the impacts on the lives of the population around the world have been discussed, however there are more vulnerable social groups who have greater difficulty in accessing the basics. The main objective of the research is to discover how the mental health of people with physical disabilities is being affected in times of a pandemic. Through the hermeneutic perspective, the speeches of nine people with disabilities interviewed online using the sociocultural questionnaire and a semi-structured script were analyzed. The research concluded that the mental health of people with disabilities was affected during the pandemic, however psychological suffering of this part of the population was already part of their lives. Some factors that contributed to the increase in psychic suffering include the non-guarantee of rights such as: access to education, work, information and public policies.
