“Você fala a língua Kaingang?”: a questão do idioma para o povo Kaingang da terra indígena de Mangueirinha

Abstract

The present work has the general objective of presenting an analysis of the Kaingang indigenous language and its influence on the culture of the Kaingang people of the Indigenous Land of Mangueirinha, as well as reflecting on the importance of preserving it for its people. The purpose of this work is to analyze the historical context of the Indigenous Land of Mangueirinha/PR, seeking to understand the indigenous resistance to the process of conquest of traditional territories by non-indigenous society in the Kaingang culture of the region, as well as the impacts of this process. In order to analyze the question of the Kaingang language in its current context, we seek to understand language as an instrument for strengthening the cultural identity of indigenous peoples. For the survey on the current situation of the Kaingang language in Mangueirinha, we conducted an investigation with the residents of the village, conducting interviews with four families, two speakers of the language and two non speakers. From the interviews, we problematized the importance of speaking the Kaingang language as the main means for the recognition and cultural identification of the Kaingang people of the Indigenous Land of Mangueirinha.
