Reflexões sobre as noções de espaço rural brasileiro em livros didáticos de geografia do ensino fundamental

Abstract

The present research analyzes contents on Brazilian rural space in elementary school geography textbooks. A survey was carried out in order to identify the geography textbooks most used in the city of São Carlos – SC and later aims to analyze the textbooks in order to understand the perspectives presented by the authors and to systematically reflect on their possible developments in the teaching and learning process of geography. It can be said that in Brazil the green revolution, or the process of modernization of agriculture, especially since the 1960s has brought about constant changes in the rural space and these have profoundly altered the way of agricultural production as well as the way we understand the rural space. The reflections developed here showed that the contents presented by the authors reinforce an economistic perspective of Brazilian rural space, in which agribusiness stands out as a means of developing the field, leaving in the background the importance of family agriculture as well as of the subjects that are involved . Another finding is in the production of the invisibility of the diversity of peoples who live and live in the countryside.
