Política, discurso e cidade: Chapecó-SC, início dos anos 1950

Abstract

The proposal of this work is to analyze the discourses of city, given from the beginning of the 1950s. The temporal delimitation was chosen due to a series of changes occurred at the beginning of the decade, which provoked a more intense debate about the city. During this period new political leaders took over the local power, they had the intention to restructure the city, that in October of 1950 had its image shaken strongly, due to the lynching of four people in public square. At the same time that we perceive the intensity of these in the attempt to deconstruct the heroic image of the colonizers, who held the power and the political prestige until then in Chapecó. We seek to understand, from the local newspapers, the discursive modification that occurred during the beginning of the decade. Attention to the fact that until December 1950 there is only one newspaper that circulated throughout the city, and after the new municipal administration takes over, two new newspapers are created in order to contribute to the actions of the administration that took office. Generating with it a wave of discourses about the city, different from what was seen until then. More focused on partisan, political, social, cultural and developmental issues. At one point these changes contributed, but at the same time, they damaged the image of the city. To carry out this research, we will work with the newspapers "A Voz de Chapecó", "O Imparcial" and "Jornal do Povo". With the reading of the sources, it is possible to understand that at the beginning of the decade there are continuities and ruptures in the discursive proliferation on the city, from what was published in the newspapers, some of these modifications are present with greater and others with less intensity.
