Contribuição do PRONAF no desenvolvimento da cadeia do leite no município de Pinhalzinho - SC

Abstract

The exclusive context of modernization of Brazilian agriculture left the farmers virtually forgotten until the 1990. Only from the definition of the family farmer and fellow fruit of many mobilizations of the class, new actions and public policies began to be designed and targeted. Among the achievements, the most relevant was the creation of the Pronaf in 1995. The program allows for the strengthening, through technical and financial support, in order to promote the socio-economic development, expanding the production capacity of its units. The relevance of the Pronaf for family agriculture has already been proven as being one of the fundamental public policies for their development and thus this work, making use of the methodology of the case study, with the help of semi-structured interviews with producers and local institutions to support family farmers, sought to answer the following question: How does the use of rural credit, provided by Pronaf, helps dairy farmers of Pinhalzinho-Santa Catarina (SC) to develop economically and strengthen themselves as family farmers? So, the aim is to study the current situation of the milk chain in the municipality and, above all, understand the importance of the development of productive activity Pronaf. The work shows that the municipality of Pinhalzinho-SC features a predominance of family farmers and these develop among other activities the milk production. The rural credit of Pronaf presents itself as an important tool for promoting social and economic development and strengthening of family agriculture and that relates directly to the milk chain. In this sense, access to rural credit is only possible because in the municipality there are several financial institutions, including credit unions that approach more directly to family farmers. Finally, the positive perspectives presents milk in the municipality of study, despite the challenges posed to the activity, thus contributing to the generation of monthly income and even assisting in the process of social reproduction of the families.
