Soldados brasileiros na II Grande Guerra: um estudo da memória dos combatentes do município de Getúlio Vargas (RS)

Abstract

The present work deals with the recovery of the memory of the combatants of World War II, natural of the municipality of Getúlio Vargas in the north of Rio Grande do Sul. For this, it was using interviews with relatives of three veterans who participated in the conflict, and an interview already transcribed and filed in the Historical and Geographical Institute of Getúlio Vargas, to which he left to begin this study, besides the testimony of an Army reservist who can not join the conflict, all based on Oral History methodologies and, to to arrive clearly with the recollection of this fact, the research in a contextual way is based on the analysis of two university professors, Ricardo Seitenfus and Francisco Cesar Alves Ferraz, about the participation of Brazil in the War and subsequent to this and guided by four dissertations in History is done an approach on the Brazilian Expeditionary Force, so that there is not a purely rev isionist, but more in-depth analysis of what historiography shows about the fact. In addition to having seven testimonies of Veterans of War, already published by the Brazilian Army in the year 2001. Having as main objective the memory of these veterans, it is important to recover part of the history of the military of the Brazilian interior that are sometimes forgotten by the people who once defended it. Thus, this research brings a breakthrough in the history of these getulienses citizens forgotten in time.
