O ritual do kiki de 2011: uma interpretação etnoarqueológica

Abstract

The Kiki Ritual that took place in 2011 in Aldeia Condá (Chapecó, Santa Catarina, Brazil) is a traditional cult of the dead ritual of Kaingang culture. In the past the event was organized annually for the people recently deceased to make a safe journey to numbê – the world of the dead. However, its realization today means much more than that, since it also acts in the sense of cultural resistance and ethnic affirmation. The objective of this work will be to analyze the event through this material culture, in order to understand how the artifacts can be agents of information of the Kaingang culture. This research used the ethnoarchaeological method to interpret the material culture together with oral, ethnographic, photographic, written and audiovisual sources.
