"Trabalho um tantão assim, cansaço é bastante sim”: a conciliação de jornadas na perspectiva do trabalhor

Abstract

The present study is a study about workers with multiemployment. These are workers who have two regular and simultaneous jobs in the city of Chapecó, especially in the area of nursing. We try to understand the meaning that these people attribute to the work, we analyze individual and social motivating elements of this practice and its repercussion for everyday life. For this, we initially discuss the organization of work in capitalist society and the main traits of the ideology of work built throughout history, paying attention to the particularities of Chapecó. We have developed a brief historical recovery in relation to regulation and reduction of working hours, an important achievement of workers. As a data cleft technique we applied semi-structured interviews in which individuals shared their experiences and perceptions. The analysis shows that these workers construct their representations making references to the context of opportunities of the existing labor market in Chapecó. In addition, there are similar profiles in relation to the type of insertion in the labor market and in relation to the levels of training. Multiemployment is driven mainly by low wages that have become incompatible with the new patterns of consumption sought by individuals. Aiming to meet the increasing demands of consumption, individuals undergo long working hours, thus harming other aspects of life, thus positioning themselves in a constant equation between sacrifice and comfort.
