Abstract

The quality of seeds is influenced by storage methods that are used by farmers, the improper storage conditions pest attack and the development of storage diseases, in general all injuries of the seeds will damage the physiological quality of seeds, so, to know the packaging that are used by guardians of creole seeds for their storage, can bring us some relevant information. With industry’s evolution have emerged new packing that are used for seeds packing. The presente project made the survey of the techniques currently used by guardians of seeds of the region of Missioneira – RS evaluating the storage conditions and care with the creole seeds that the guardians hold. The method used was of interviews with 12 families that participate in the group of seeds misssion guardians, the questionnaire was applied in partnership with EMATER, CÁRITAS and REMAF. Consisting of 25 questions that involve the seeds, care and packaging used for the storage of creole seeds. The results indicate that farmers are still experiencing difficulties in storing seeds, mainly due to the attack of pests and diseases, there is a high diversity of packaging used for the storage of seeds, and most farmers usually opt for the shed to pack the seeds creoles.
