A construção da memória: entre presenças e esquecimentos no Museu João Modtkowski- Áurea/RS

Abstract

This work seeks to reflect about the process of the creation of the João Modtkowski Municipal Museum in Aurea – RS. This research is justified by the lack of work focusing in the present museum. It starts from the context and the formation of this place of memory, putting into perspective the representations created by the community around its own identity, connected to the Polish culture. Along this work, it is intended to comprehend how the Museum was formed and the criteria used to guide the formation of its collection. When analyzed whether it also represents other ethnicities that composed the history of the city, such as indigenous natives, it was observed whether there was community participation in the creation process of this space memory. The research built by the analysis of official documents of the city of Aurea and local and regional newspapers, interviews were also used and they contributed to solve the shortage and gaps in other sources, as well as enabled the formulation of relevant reflections relevant to this matter.
