Investigação de cavidades naturais presentes no município de Lindóia do Sul, Santa Catarina

Abstract

The present paper aimed to investigate three natural cavities present in the city of Lindóia do Sul, Santa Catarina, and of analyze the internal structure of these cavities, to understand their genesis of formation, to measure their tunnels and to produce the floor plan and profile of the segments. To accomplishment this research we proceed with field works in the location of each natural cavity, in order to collect the data relevant to this paper. We used as methodology, routine procedures associated to data collection, relative to the location of cavities, characterization chart of natural cavities, as well as specific materials to proceed to the measurements of the tunnels for the confection of floor plans and profiles. Thus, we find three cavities with very distinct features between each other. The first cavity is a paleotoca and the second and the third was originated by erosive processes, the last of these cavities whith great possibilities of being a rock shelter. In this way, there is a need for speleological surveys, especially in the west of Santa Catarina, aiming at recording and analyzing, for a better understanding of these natural formations.
