Alelopatia de Ambrosia artemisiifolia na germinação e desenvolvimento de plântulas de milho de soja

Abstract

In this work the allelopathic effects of root exudates and aqueous extract of the aerial part of Ambrosia artemisiifolia on the germination and vigor of corn and soybean seeds were evaluated. The work was composed of two experiments. The first one was done in a factorial scheme (2x2), corn and soybean with and without root exudate. The second one was done in factorial (2x4), corn and soybean at concentrations of 0, 25, 50 and 75% aqueous extract of aerial part of A. artemisiifolia. The root exudate of A. artemisiifolia negatively affects the vigor of maize seeds, but not germination. The root exudate of A. artemisiifolia does not influence the germination and vigor of soybean seeds. The maize crop shows greater sensitivity to allelopathic effects of root exudate. The aqueous extract of the aerial part of A. artemisiifolia negatively affects the vigor of maize seeds and the vigor and germination of soybean seeds, being the soybean crop more sensitive to the allelopathic effects of the extract. The aqueous extract of the aerial part of A. artemisiifolia presented total phenol content of 11.13 mg.g-1 of dry mass of the plant, considered high when compared to other spontaneous plants.
