Educação do campo e gênero: a "formação" do coletivo de mulheres do assentamento Eli Vive

Abstract

This monograph is a study about the formation of the Eli Vive Settlement Women's Collective and aims to understand the possibilities and limits of women's political activity in the Settlement, the forms of empowerment found by them to stay organized and the contributions of this Collective for popular education. In order to reach the objectives, we conducted interviews with women participants in the Collective. The concepts of gender, patriarchy and popular education are the basis of our analysis of empirical research. In order to understand the historical processes of the organization of women's social movements or women's groups, we describe a brief history of the domination of women in the West since the prehistoric period where the first records of violence and domination of the masculine over the feminine appear to the first waves of feminism and women's organizations claiming equal rights such as labor law and the right to vote. The history of the Settlement and the formation of the Collective are also described to better understand the work of the Collective as a form of popular education and the empowerment of women.
