Representações do sofrimento social: um estudo sobre as mulheres rurais e o movimento de mulheres camponesas

Abstract

The social sciences have entered various areas of knowledge, such as health, over the years. In this, it is sought to understand how life in society, culture and historicity interfere or interact with health and illness. In this way, the present work deals with an exploratory qualitative study and intends, through social science concepts, to build a dialogue between the theories about suffering - focusing on social suffering. The objective of this study is to understand the Social Suffering of Rural Women participating in the Movement of Peasant Women (MMC) in the municipality of Quilombo / SC, and to understand how this movement has helped to break the suffering and built itself as an instrument of struggle in the lives of these women. The MMC has been involved in social and political struggles for 35 years, as well as promoting the cultivation and use of medicinal plants in health care. Thus, through bibliographical research and fieldwork, there is a concern to understand how the women of the Movement see suffering, and if there is understanding within their political constructions that the subject who suffers is a social subject and that their daily lives interfere directly into health and suffering. The choice of sample comes from high rates of women farmers in suffering. According to research, this scenario is related to the routine of women farmers in situations of vulnerability - poverty, difficult access to education, work overload, and violence. Therefore, it is understood the need to investigate whether the actions of the Movement provide the perception of suffering, as well as social suffering.
