Aplicação do protocolo de avaliação rápida de rios como subsídio para análise da influência da urbanização no Lajeado Passo dos Índios, Chapecó/SC

Abstract

Urbanization, over the years, has been asserting itself as one of the greatest ways of modifying the environment. Among the changes promoted by urbanization are those that are inserted in the context of the river basins. In these, the influences can promote the alteration of the fluvial canals and here the present study is inserted, whose spatial clipping is the watershed of the Passo dos Índios Stream. BHLPI is the main urban hydrographic basin of Chapecó/SC. The growing urbanization of the city resulting from the expansion of agroindustrial activity promoted a rapid urban expansion, which was not followed by the implementation of the necessary infrastructure, a fact that triggered environmental problems. The alteration of the water courses, mainly the channelling of several fluvial stretches and the increase of the surface runoff from the waterproofing of the terrain, resulted in frequent cases of flooding and floods. Thus, the present study intends to evaluate the degree of alteration of the hydrographic network due to the influence of urbanization in BHLPI. For this, we applied the Rapid Evaluation Protocol (PAR) of rivers in 18 sections of the main course of the Passo dos Índios Stream, making sections both in the urban area (ten sections), as peri-urban-rural (eight sections). The results clearly express that the Passo dos Índios Stream is highly altered in the urban area, with an improvement in the conditions of the canal, from the moment it enters the periurban-rural area.
