Crescimento vegetativo e características físico químicas de frutos cítricos do pomar da Universidade Federal da Fronteira Sul – Campus Cerro Largo

Abstract

Brazilian citrus is a very important branch of our agribusiness, Brazil is the largest exporter of orange juice in the world only the citrus belt of São Paulo and Minas Gerais, turnover US $ 14.5 billion, contributes US $ 6.5 billion to GDP and earns about $ 180 million in taxes plus 200,000 direct and indirect jobs created. In Rio Grande do Sul more than ten thousand families derive their income from the production of oranges, lemons, mandarins, and other segments such as transportation, juice and candy manufacturing. Because of this, there is a need to monitor the vegetative growth and fruit quality of cultivars in different regions, which, in turn, will have different adaptations depending on the climate from which they were implanted. Thus, the objective of the present work was to evaluate the vegetative growth of citrus cultivars divided into limes, mandarins and oranges in the experimental area of the Federal University of Fronteira Sul Campus Cerro Largo and the fruit quality. Evaluations were carried out from January to October 2019 for the variables stem diameter, growth of the main and secondary branches, fruit harvest and analysis of pulp and juice mass and soluble solids.
