Mirongas e macumba: o culto ao divino afro-brasileiro no terreiro de umbanda Ogum Beira Mar, Passo Fundo-RS

Abstract

The Umbanda emerged at the end of 1908 in Rio de Janeiro State, from the syncretism of Orixás Cult – brought by the ensalved Africans who came to America – with Amerindian religious and European Kardecism. This research aims to analye the material and immaterial culture present in one of the religion centers, in the Centro Africano Oxum Demum and Terreiro de Umbanda Ogum Beira Mar located in Passo Fundo City, Rio Grande do Sul State, to understand the meanings and influence that Umbanda has nowadays.
