Abstract/Resumen: Prior to Brazil direct involved in World War II (1939-1945) in 1942, there was a dispute between the (belligerent) powers that aimed for greater commercial influence with Latin America. This climate of uncertainty has generated national unrest and a craving for conflictrelated news. At the time, the Brazilian journalistic press was linked to the censorship imposed by the “Estado Novo” (1937-1945), which limited its performance and scope. In this sense, the general objective of the research was to analyze discourses present in news produced about the Second World War in Chapecó, then a region of the interior of Brazil, where the newspaper was an important means of communication; trying to understand how the news was produced in [ideological] senses. The theoretical-methodological perspective employed in the research constitutes an attempt to dialogue between analysis of bibliographical references understood as pertinent to the research theme, and as sources, we searched for a file referring to the newspaper A Voz de Chapecó, available at the Memory Center. from the west of Santa Catarina (CEOMUnochapecó). The work rested on a methodology that dialogues the history of the press, focusing on the discourse and political influence of the time, starting from local to national history, taking into account the news rescued from the period as ideologically produced discourses about the Conflict. Sixteen pages of this archive were analyzed to try to respond to the proposed objectives, and in order to make a certain analytical counterpoint between the speeches produced in Chapecó, considered as “interior”, is also referenced the Jornal Diário Carioca (RJ), then Brazilian federal capital (available on the National Library website). The time frame of the research starts from the year 1939 until 1941, corresponding respectively to the beginning of the conflict in Europe and the last year of Brazil's “no direct involvement” in the war. Throughout these 3 years, through the news we noticed some changes of meaning in the discourses regarding the aforementioned Conflict, explaining ideological characters in these discursive productions.focusing on the discourse and political influence of the time, from local and national history, taking into account the news rescued from the period.
