Abstract: | Genetic treatment of diabetic patients is frequently affected by infections due to compromised parasympathetic innervation. In this way, control of glycemic levels is useful. This crosssectional, descriptive and analytical study aimed at the analysis of adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who underwent Urinary Tract Infeccion (UTI) between January and December 2017 in the city of Marau-RS. The prevalence of urinary tract infections in DM2 patients in the basic care of Marau-RS was 8%, with a predominance of females (81.7) and age ≥ 65 years (59.4%). The most frequent symptomatology was dysuria (46.8%). The Chi-square test revealed a significant association between fasting blood glucose control (p <0.005) and the occurrence of infection. However, Hb1Ac values were not related to the occurrence of UTI (p <0.609) . Escherichia coli bacteria were isolated in 52.9% of the patients. |
