O pensamento eugênico na obra "Os sertões: campanha de Canudos" de Euclides da Cunha

Abstract

The present work, through the literary work of "The Sertões: Campaigns of Straws", written by Euclides da Cunha, has the objective to give a vision about the use of eugenics in Brazil. The work was the living report of what was happening in the northeastern backwoods when the combat of Antonio Counselor and his followers with the troops of the Republic. This important work within the literature and history of Brazil showed unknown backwoods until then, starting from the mischaracterization of the northeastern people that the author, initially, placed like without any condition to build the country that the new Republic hoped so much.
