Invernada dos negros/Campos Novos-SC: um movimento rural quilombola, 2003-2015

Abstract

In Invernada dos Negros, placed on Campos Novos e Abdon Batista/ SC, the residentes know each othes by their kinship, for being descendants of enslaved africans, as well, for the connection they have with the territory left in will by the farmer Matheus José de Souza e Oliveira, their slaves and freed slaves in 1877. Over the time, in view of the conditions in which they lived, without access to public policies, and without knowledge of the law, the descendants of the legatees were losing their lands, until 2003, when the Associação Remanescente de Quilombo Invernada dos Negros (ARQIN) was created. The research we developed, therefore, has the general objective, starting with thw criation and funcionamnet of this association, compreehend the atuation of Movimento Negro Quilombola em Campos Novos, in the period of 2003 until 2015. With this, we analysis the fighting for land and guarantee the rights of this population, the efficiecy of public policies developed in the comunity and the influence of the moviment so that descendants of legatees from Invernada dos Negros would recognize themselves as quilombolas. Therefore, we use as fonts: newspapers, minutes of the association, minutes of public hearings, anthropological report prepared by NUER / UFSC and documentaries about the community. The present work dialogues with Anthropology and is inserted in the field of Post-Abolition Social History, as well as the History of the Present Time.
