Abstract

The pandemic of the new coronavirus - ​Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome of Coronavirus (Sars-CoV-2), is changing everyone's life. With social distance, work dynamics change and, consequently, the families' routine. However, we know that the challenge of reconciling professional activities with chores at home plus attention to children is not an easy task. Here comes the question, focus on work or give attention to children? This dilemma is well known among parents who are working in the home office. The double journey in the quarantine, although laborious, brought mothers and children together and made most families rethink their routines, many difficulties were manifested by the respondents, the main one being the difficulty of establishing boundaries between their tasks and the reconciliation of personal and family life. professional. Therefore, the study here aims to answer the question How are mothers from western Santa Catarina reconciling work in the home office regime and with motherhood during the coronavirus pandemic period? The general objective of this research is to analyze the perception of mothers in western Santa Catarina regarding the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic on the reconciliation of motherhood with work in the home office. The methodology was through the questionnaire instrument, in the questions we sought quantitative data in order to tabulate the data in percentage, open questions were also asked to collect more information, aiming to deepen the experiences. 101 responses were tabulated, these data were collected through Google Forms. In the analysis of the data, the first relevant percentage is that the support network in helping to care for children during the pandemic period fell 17.52%, and the main difficulty presented by the respondents is the establishment of limits between motherhood / home / work adding up to 20.11 %, this fact was also recognized in the testimonies presented by the women-mothers, adding to the several complaints reported about the gender inequality experienced in the home. The lack of resources necessary to carry out work activities, inappropriate environment, and several interruptions, were some of the conditions that made teleworking with inferior performance and productivity. Many changes must happen to make the performance of the labor market of women mothers fair and less painful, including labor policies to better match motherhood and the labor market, provide all the fundamental resources for good work performance, a more active society and engaged in change and more participative companions in carrying out household chores and raising children.
