Comunicação libertadora como instrumento de enfrentamento e prevenção da violência doméstica contra as mulheres

Abstract

Domestic violence against women is a global problem and has numerous consequences. Understanding this phenomenon as structural and culturally produced over the years, there is great struggle to raise awareness of the population about gender inequalities and the violence that perpetuates because of it. Women who suffer from this type of violence find themselves in situations of vulnerability, in which violence remains a means of communication, while they remain silent, unable to report what they experience daily, without a voice to talk about their suffering. Therefore, this paper discusses how liberating communication, conceptualized by Paulo Freire, can be an essential tool to confronting and preventing domestic violence against women, being a mechanism by which they can recover their voices.
