Ai bota ali o teu pezinho: as representações da prenda na tradição e na música gaúcha

Abstract

The present work aims to make a historical rescue of the formation of the Tradicional Gaucho Movement (MTG) and the creation of the prenda’s figure. And by those, reveal how the gaucho music contributes in the dissemination of the image from the ideal woman that the MTG proposed. This work has been carried out by bibliographic research and through the analysis of some songs that are part of the traditionalist universe. In the end of the research, it was concluded that some songs collaborate to the crystallization of the prenda as submissive woman ad linked to the domestic space, who has the beauty as principal and only attribute and who is submitted and must accept the violence that her companion may presents, since he is gross by nature. It was also observed that in a few compositions the woman shows as head of her own history, fighting and defending life. They are songs that seek to deconstruct the old figure of the prenda and to form a new image that represents the warrior woman who fights for her rights.
