A visão de pacientes obesos mórbidos sobre os determinantes de origem familiar e suas influências em seus estados nutricionais

Abstract

Obesity is a chronic disease characterized by abnormal or excessive accumulation of body fat. Clinical practice shows, however, that its approach is often insufficient in helping morbidly obese patients. The aim of the study was to identify the determinants of family origin and the influence on the nutritional status of these patients. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight patients undergoing pre-bariatric surgery at the Quality of Life Outpatient Clinic, at the Nonoai Basic Health Unit, in Passo Fundo, RS. The content analysis was performed through the analytical reading of the transcribed speeches and categorized by topics. In analyzing the influencers, situations of potential reinforcement for obesity were found, as well as factors with potential protection for such condition. The findings help to clarify subjective factors which, in the future, will provide ways to prevent obesity, with multiprofessional support.
