The anammox technology, in addition to requiring less energy in the processes, features removals of nitrogen and phosphorus in the range of 51.9 to 89.3% and for a temperature between 25-30°C. Wetlands are also promising technologies, reaching removals of up to 98.2% in the treatment of agro-industrial effluents. |
Resumen : | Concerns about the intensive use and improper disposal of effluents have been increasing in recent years. Agroindustrial effluents, in addition to having a high load of organic matter, are rich in nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus. The amount of these nutrients in excess present in effluents from pig farming activities, slaughterhouses, dairy products is a cause of pollution resulting from the eutrophication process of aquatic environments, posing a threat to water resources and even human health. Thus, this study aimed to bring concepts of nitrification and denitrification and some biological processes used in the removal of nitrogen and phosphorus in agro-industrial effluents that can obtain good removal efficiencies and lower cost, such as the processes performed by anammox and wetlands. |
