A participação das mulheres na política-partidária de Chapecó: anos 1996 a 2020

Abstract

The present work for the conclusion of the Undergraduate Degree in Social Sciences course, from the Federal University of Southern Frontier – UFFS, Chapecó/SC university campus, entitled ―proposes as a research object the problematization of the gender issue in party politics. The objectives of this study are: To analyze the representation of women in the political party context of the municipal legislature of Chapecó, in the period between 2016 and 2020; contextualize the struggle of women for the right to vote from their origin to their rise in Brazil; Raise data on female representation in the Chapecoense legislature and executive, from 1958 to 2020; reflect on the difficulties of women's participation in party politics at national, state and local levels. The methodological basis of this work consists of bibliographic research, data collection from the TSE and TRE, as well as research on newspaper websites on the topic. The historical contextualization of women's struggles for citizenship legitimized for the right to vote and to be voted, when the first women's organizations started to date, allows us to analyze how gender inequality intrinsic to patriarchy moves politics towards the domain of men, given that even with a trajectory of struggles, women still face several challenges to enter the public spaces of power and are a minority in the political spectrum. In Chapecó, since the City Council was established in 1947 until the 2020 legislature, female representation is still much lower than male representation, especially in terms of the number of elected representatives, given that reveal gender inequality in the political sphere and the prejudice of a society whose conservative ideas perpetuate power among men.
