Estudos da botânica a partir da viagem de Saint-Hilaire ao Sul do Brasil no século XIX

Abstract

This article presents a study on the work of the naturalist, Auguste Prouvençal de SaintHilaire, and his scientific expedition in the region of Rio Grande do Sul. He sought to study the writings of the naturalist as a researcher and traveler to the south of Brazil. In addition to highlighting which reasons led the botanist to make this trip, and also to point out some species cataloged by the scientist. It was also sought to identify how this man conceives the relation man nature in this region of Brazil. The analysis of his work was carried out from the Discursive Textual Analysis (ATD), which propose a proper methodology for the analysis of texts. From the present work it is possible to conclude the importance of the work of the French scholar for posteriorities, raising important data about the Brazilian fauna and flora, hitherto unknown by the scientific world.
