Abstract: | The small mammals of the Atlantic Forest biome stand out for the richness and abundance of species that coexist in the same habitat and occupy different regions, influenced by variations in the microhabitat that is characterized by a set of variables that affect the individual behavior of each species. The work sought to investigate patterns in habitat occupation by small mammals to understand how the interaction between fauna and environmental characteristics occurs in the southwestern region of Paraná. For this, two forest fragments were evaluated, in each one, 10 sample points distributed were defined in order to maximize the sampling of each site. Each fragment was sampled only once during the month of September 2018. During the sample period no individuals were captured, so the species richness and abundance observed were zero for both fragments. Among the innumerable possibilities that may contribute to the absence of this fauna in the sampled sites, it is inferred that the impact on the population of small mammals can be a reflection of the intense anthropic action that surrounds the fragments sampled, fragmentation and habitat reduction, the use of pesticides in the environment , among others that may or may not be directly or indirectly influencing the absence of these populations. |
