A angústia da fome a partir das narrativas de Carolina Maria de Jesus: a miséria é real

Abstract

Bringing together two areas of knowledge, this work is based on the link between literature and sociology. Therefore, the aim of this monography is to explore the book Quarto de Despejo: diário de uma favela written by Carolina Maria de Jesus throuth the books Literatura e Sociologia by Antonio Candido and the book Que é Literatura written by Jean- Paul Sartre. The methodology of this work is based on this question: how to analyze a literary work? And to answer such question, Candido guides us from a historical perspective, arguing that a literary work is not determined by any specific aspect and that the study under the the book aims to find the elements that unite all parts of the book, which eventually become indissoluble, helping to find the peculiar structures of the book. Carolina Maria de Jesus was a black and poor woman, but before that she was a writer. For most of your life she lived in the first favela of the state of São Paulo, and with her writing, she was able to tell us all the anguish born from hunger. In search of what factors led this woman to narrate in a literary way her life and the cruel world that she was living, this work is justified by her great reflections in her books, showing that the misery and hunger are real.
