Abstract: | The performance of Fenton reaction and modify on the degradation of an simulated aqueous solution containing Methyl Orange azo-dye (MO) was investigated. For this, the main of the operational reactor variables such as pH of the solution, Fenton reactants concentration (Fe(II) and H 2 O 2 ), and concentration/relation of the acid ligand-organic etilenodiaminotetracético (EDTA) was optimized using the lab scale reactor. The experiments were delineated in a Central Composite Rotational Design (CCRD) and all the data obtained were submitted to a statistical modelling. The response variables were: MO azo-dye concentration and decolourisation. Using a solution with 20 mg MO L-1, untreated sample present practically nil turbidity and high color. Although the most FR experiments have been present significant efficiency, the optimal operational conditions of the reactor are pH 3.5, 4.6 mg Fe2+ L-1and 36,4 mg H 2 O 2 L-1, leading in a complete decolourisation and degradation of de azo-dye. In addition, tests using the EDTA-ligand with the inductor of the Fenton reaction provided significant reduction of [MO] and color with the neutral pH solution. |
