Estado Novo e ameaça facista nas páginas do jornal 'A notícia' (1937-1945)

Abstract

This work analyzes the political and ideological positioning of A Notícia de Joinville - SC newspaper, as well as its motives and effects on the national and municipal conjuncture. Taking into account that the period was marked by massive popular manifestations, and that the Getulist government in response employed authoritarian and repressive practices for population control, we first propose a reflection on the period called Estado Novo (New State), to note how and what intentions the newspaper had with the selection of its news; the second problem hovers over the fact that one of the main groups disputing Joinville's regional policy is Ação Integralista Brasileira, seeking to understand in this way how the newspaper instructs the population to have an idea about the largest movement of fascist representation outside Italy in the period. The third problem is to interpret the journal's objectives by presenting a traditional form of journalism of which its purpose is not to inform, but rather to form a memory of the present for future generations about real events. However, from the periodicals of Aurino Soares (1895-1944), which presented itself as a newspaper without partisan colors and was even a novelty for the time, we will try to understand the role of the intellectual, of which Aurino Soares' newspaper was organically correlated with the interests of the national and municipal bourgeoisie, demonstrating an evident development of its means of production during the fascist period of our history, recognized as a New State, and thus seek to identify possible ideological premises found in the figure of Aurino Soares and his daily newspaper.
