Abstract

Afforestation is of fundamental importance on a university campus and, in addition to landscape and environmental functions, it performs teaching and research functions for the entire university community. In this context, the general objective of the present work was to develop a technical register of the afforestation of the Federal University Fronteira Sul, implemented in unit II, by the afforestation commission of Cerro Largo/RS. Geotechnologies were used to survey and map the observed species. The use of the GNSS RTK system allowed the registration of 330 arboreal individuals distributed in 18 species. Of the individuals found, 13 were dead. The most abundant species on campus was Bauhinia forficata with 54 individuals, representing 17% of the entire tree population, followed by Caesalpinia pluviosa with 47 individuals, representing 14.8% of the tree population and Tabebuia sp. with 31 individuals corresponding to 9.8% of the population. Among the species implanted on the campus, only 13.24% are exotic, that is, 42 arboreal individuals, and 86.79% are native to Brazil and the southern region. From the survey carried out, only in 8 species it was possible to obtain the diameter at breast height (DBH), the rest were unable to obtain such data due to the stature of their representatives being too short or their crown antlers being at the height of the DBH. Platanus had the greatest diameter and height. The smallest average height was recorded in Morus alba, while the smallest diameter recorded was in Tabebuia sp. Regarding health and pest attack, in the species Apuleia leiocarpa, ant attack was observed in all its representatives and in Inga sp., 17% of the representatives were totally healthy.
