Vivências e diálogos de homens transexuais sobre o cuidado nos serviços de saúde: impactos da pandemia de Covid-19

Abstract

The LGBTQIAP+ community, as a whole, faces daily confrontations for recognition and conquest of their rights. The transvestite and transgender population faces unique struggles and experiences more discrimination and marginalization in society. This fact promotes deficits in access to health services and guarantees of qualified professional assistance. The COVID-19 pandemic has promoted an increase in the vulnerabilities of these individuals and potential consequences in various areas of their lives. As a general objective, we sought to understand the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the experiences of transgender men for care in the reality of health services. This is a qualitative study, composed of two stages, the first being descriptive exploratory, based on the Discourse of the Collective Subject and the second stage of the type participant action research, linked to the Research Itinerary of Paulo Freire. The results showed that before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, transgender men faced barriers and difficulties in access to health care. After the pandemic, these barriers intensified, being added to other factors such as deficit in the creation of a professional-user bond, increase in institutional violence and a feeling of abandonment and neglect of the demands of the transgender population by health professionals. The result corroborates other studies that investigated the experiences of transsexual people in the Brazilian context. Furthermore, the COVID-19 pandemic intensified some problems previously faced by health services, related to the removal of transgender men from health services as a result of violence, as well as brought new problems related to the difficulty in access to consultations with endocrinologists and access to hormone therapy for acquisition. The proposed dialogue promoted to the participants the opportunity to exchange experiences and moments of re-signification of concepts and experiences.
