| Resume: | Má notícia consiste em toda comunicação de caráter informativo que afeta negativamente as perspectivas futuras do indivíduo, estando muito relacionada à oncologia. O objetivo do estudo é avaliar a percepção dos pacientes oncológicos sobre a comunicação verbal e não verbal no recebimento de más notícias em um hospital do oeste catarinense. Trata-se de estudo qualitativo, realizado por meio de entrevista narrativa. A seleção dos pacientes ocorreu por conveniência, perfazendo um total de 15 participantes. Os dados foram analisados pelo programa IRAMUTEQ® resultando em uma Classificação Hierárquica Descendente, composta por 4 classes nomeadas conforme as palavras de maior representatividade. O principal ponto destacado pelos pacientes foi a utilização de linguagem clara e compreensível, sem omitir dados clínicos, levando em conta as singularidades de cada indivíduo. Percebese a importância da instituição de programas continuados de educação médica no currículo médico, buscando a melhoria das habilidades comunicativas. |
| Abstract: | Bad news consists of any informational communication that negatively affects an individual’s perspective or his or her future, being related to oncology. The objective of the study is to evaluate the perception of oncological patients about verbal and nonverbal communication when receiving bad news at a hospital in western Santa Catarina. The referred study is a qualitative study, with the assistance of narrative interview. The selection of patients occurred for convenience, resulting in a total of 15 participants. The data were analyzed by the IRAMUTEQ® program resulting in a Descending Hierarchical Classification, composed of 4 categories, according to the most representative words. The main point highlighted by patients was the need of clear and understandable language, without omitting clinical data, taking into account the singularities of each individual. It is possible to realize the institution’s importance of continued schedules of medical educations in the medical graduation’s curriculum pursuing improvement on the communicative abilities. |
