As criptomoedas: uma análise a partir de uma perspectiva pós-keynesiana

Abstract

The continued development of global trade and new ways to conduct financial transactions, especially in the buying and selling of products and services, are facilitated with the use of cryptocurrencies that are emerging in digital and innovative forms, providing a universal monetary unit. One of the most influential is Bitcoin, which has brought technological advancement and modernization of the currency, enabling its use in different ways. Thus, people have debated if Bitcoin is a currency, as well as other central bank regulated currencies. The main objective of this research is to analyze the investments made in bitcoins from a post-Keynesian perspective. To achieve the main objective, the concepts of Cryptocurrency, Blockchain, the definition of currency in Post-Keynesian Theory, as well as the implications of investing in cryptocurrencies will be addressed. Through the use of bibliographical and documental research, in a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory way, it will be exposed how the technology (Bitcoin) works, its risks and advantages, its classification as an asset from the Post-Keynesian Theory and the economic problems associated with investments in this asset.
