Abstract: | In the cultivation of vegetables, the production of seedlings is a fundamental step, where the inputs and management used directly influence its success; it is important to promote conditions for the plant to grow healthy and productive, in which the substrate has great responsibility, in this way it is essential to choose the appropriate type for the culture, considering that there is an infinity available in the Marketplace. Thus, the objective of this experiment was to evaluate the effect of different commercial substrates on the production of broccoli seedlings in a protected environment. The work was carried out in the experimental area of the Federal University of Fronteira Sul, Chapecó campus, from May to July 2022. The experimental design adopted was randomized blocks, with 3 treatments (substrates) and 7 replications. Each replicate consisted of a tray of 72 cells. The substrates tested were: Garden Plus®, MecPlant® and AgroCerro®. Broccoli seeds of the cultivar Ramoso Santana were used. Plant emergence, plant height, number of leaves were evaluated at 7, 14, 21, 28 and 35 days after the sowing; at the end of the experiment, at 35 days after the sowing, the root length and dry mass of the shoots and roots of the seedlings were also evaluated. The results obtained were submitted to analysis of variance and the comparison of means by Tukey Test in SISVAR software MecPlant® substrate provided the best development of the Broccoli Ramoso Santana seedlings, excelling in all the variables studied, producing more vigorous plants and suitable for transplanting in the field. |
